GREENWOOD, S.C. - The Knights were back on the road on Friday as they headed to Greenwood, South Carolina to take on the Bearcats of Lander University. The Knights previously played the Bearcats at home, losing 3-0, and were looking to show some signs of improvement.
The Knights got off to a slow start in the first set, dropping the first five points, and the lead grew from there as the Bearcats put together multiple point runs to win the first set 25-15. The Knights looked better in the second set as they won the first three points of the set and jumped out to a 10-4 lead. The Bearcats made a late charge to cut the deficit but the Knights held on to win the set 25-22. The third set started just like the first set with the Bearcats winning the first five points. The Knights made a multiple point run late in the set but fell 25-12. The Knights fell behind early again in the fourth set as they were unable to recover and lost the set 25-15.
Graysen Lallier and
Mia Matheney led the Knights with seven kills each,
Ellie Johnson led with 25 assists, and
Paige Collier led with 24 digs.
The Knights will be back on the court on Saturday, October 18th as they face the Bearcats for the final time in the regular season. Tip off is scheduled for 3 PM EST.
