Milledgeville, GA - The Knights returned to Milledgeville, Georgia on Sunday, February 9th to play the Lions of Mars Hill University and the Bobcats of Georgia College for the second straight day. The Knights had some tough luck on Saturday and were looking to reverse their fortunes.
The Knights gave up a run in the first inning against the Lions but the bats came alive in a big way in the second inning.
Grace Avery led off the inning with a solo home run and
Emily Proctor hit a two-run home run to put the Knights ahead 3-1. The Knights scored three more runs in the fourth inning after a leadoff walk by Avery and a single by
Kaylee Oliver set
Mel Bullock up for a three-run home run to give the Knights a 6-1 lead. The Lions scored two runs in the bottom half of the inning to close the gap but the Knights continued to score with three runs in the fifth inning, all coming on Lions errors. The Knights solidified the win with Proctor's second two-run home run of the game in the seventh inning to give the Knights an 11-3 win.
The Knights went into the second game of the day looking to keep the bats hot. They scored one run in the first inning with a double steal that allowed
Carmen Phillips to score and the Knights grabbed a 1-0 lead. The Bobcats tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom half of the inning and the Knights looked poised to score another run in the second inning with a runner on third with one out but they would be unable to score and the game remained tied at 1-1. The Bobcats scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and the Knights got another runner to third but had no luck. The Bobcats added one run in the fifth inning with the Knights going on to lose 5-1.
The Knights will return to Knights Field for their next set of games on Thursday, February 13th when they host the Tornadoes of Talladega College. First pitch is scheduled for 1 PM EST.
