Knights Play Two Close Matches in Augusta

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Knights hit the road on Friday as they traveled to Augusta, Georgia to open their Peach Belt Conference schedule. The Knights were coming off of a close match on the road on Tuesday and looking to start conference play with a win.

The Knights got off to a tough start, losing six of the first eight points, but were able to close the lead down to two points. The Jaguars maintained their lead throughout the set and the Knights lost the set 25-19. The Knights had a better start in the second set of the match, winning five of the first six points, but the Jaguars came back to tie the set at 7-7. The Knights kept the set close until two separate five point runs for the Jaguars put the Knights behind as they lost the set 25-17. The Knights fell behind early in the third set but fought back to take a 12-11 lead. The set remained close as both teams traded the lead but the Jaguars pulled ahead late as the Knights lost 25-23. Mia Matheney led the Knights with six kills as Graysen Lallier and Ellie Johnson each added five kills. Aubrie Beard had 15 assists to lead the Knights and Paige Collier had 21 digs.

University of Mount Olive

The Knights won four of the first five points to start the second match of the night but the Trojans used a five point run to take the lead. The first set was close until late in the set when the Trojans started to pull away and the Knights lost the set 25-20. The second set started off with the Trojans jumping out to an early lead and the Knights looked to be down and out. The Knights attempted to close the gap but the Trojans kept the lead and the Knights lost the set 25-18. The Knights showed their determination in the third set as they started off winning five of the first six points. The Knights had the lead for the entire set as they kept the match alive with a 25-20 win of the set. The fourth set started with a 2-2 tie until the Trojans pulled away, jumping out to a nine point lead. The Knights fought back as they closed the lead using a nine point run to tie the set at 16-16. The Knights tried to grab the lead but the Trojans were able to get back into a rhythm and the Knights lost the set 25-21. Graysen Lallier led the way with 12 kills as McCall Wolf added 10 kills. Aubrie Beard led the Knights with 21 assists and Paige Collier led with 20 digs.

The Knights will return home on Saturday, September 27th as they host the Bearcats of Lander University for another Peach Belt Conference match. First serve is scheduled for 3 PM EST.
