Softball Plays Two Close Games in Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Knights were back on the field on Saturday, March 21st as they headed to Columbus, Georgia to take on the Cougars of Columbus State. The Knights lost their last game against Flagler College while the Cougars lost their last game against Auburn-Montgomery.

Game One

The Cougars got on the board in the first inning with a three-run home run to put the Knights down early. The Knights offense got going in the third inning as they got RBI singles from Lizzy Vales and Briana Murray and an RBI double from Madison Cosgrove to tie the game at 3-3. The Cougars put three more runs on the board in the fourth inning to give the Knights another three run deficit. The Knights got a two-run home run in the seventh inning from Mel Bullock to cut the lead down to one but were unable to get the tying run across as they lost the game 6-5.

Game Two

The Knights grabbed the lead in the first inning after scoring on a fielder's choice but the Cougars tied the game in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI triple. The Cougars scored two more runs in the third inning and one run in the fourth inning to go ahead 4-1. Mel Bullock hit a solo home run in the seventh inning to close the gap but it was the only run the Knights could get as they lost 4-2.

The Knights will wrap up their series against Columbus State University on Sunday, March 22nd. First pitch is scheduled for 1 PM EST.
